Slices of Mortadella with Black Truffle are vacuum-packed and come in 100g portions.

The Mortadella is preserved with a thick layer of hand-stitched pork skin that protects the cured meat from oxides in the air. This pork skin is removed when sliced and keeps the Mortadella extra smooth. Salty, savoury, slices of Mortadella are accompanied by shavings of Black Truffle, adding a depth and recognisable aroma to this classic cold cut.

Mortadella is the original cooked sausage from the city of Bologna in northern Italy. Unlike American baloney, Mortadella from Bologna has ancestors and a pedigree. The first recipes are from the 1560s, shortly after the first printed cookbook, which appeared in Florence - Firenze - at the end of the 15th century. Now, Mortadella is an IGP product - Indicazione Geografica Protetta or "Indication of Protected Origin." This is a European Union designation that certifies authenticity. Real Mortadella is soft and pink with white flecks. The white flecks are tiny pieces of fat, little flavour bursts that add to the classic Mortadella melt-in-mouth factor. They too have their own DOP - Denominazione d'Origine Protetta or "Denomination of Protected Origin" designation.
